Carnival in Seychelles makes press everywhere

Carnival in Seychelles makes press everywhere ( A four-page press report in La Reunion speaks of the carnival in the Seychelles and how it has gained international recognition. The 2014 edition of the Carnaval International de Victoria was jointly co-hosted by Seychelles, La Reunion, Madagascar, Mayotte, and South Africa KwaZulu Natal. It was a great marketing operation for the archipelago and also benefitted neighboring countries such as La Reunion, one of the co-hosts of the event.

The annual event continues to grow in size year after year, and the interest by international press also gets stronger. This year, some 26 international delegations traveled to Seychelles, and this included all the best and most popular carnivals such as Notting Hill Carnival of the UK, Brazil Carnival, Dusseldorf Carnival of Germany, the Italy Carnival, the Carnival from Indonesia, and the Carnival of Trinidad and Tobago, along with cultural troupes from the Community of Nations.

Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, spoke as he closed the 2014 edition of the carnival saying that this year the event, which appears on the Calendar of Events of the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands, was a total success. “This the people of Seychelles have said in no uncertain terms by being present in extremely large numbers on all the three days of the event, but the international media present has also said so. Those who were here to cover previous editions have confirmed that this 2014 edition surpassed all expectations. It was also very evident that the level of carnival floats in the parade was now extremely high," Minister St.Ange said.

The Minister for Tourism and Culture said that he was thankful to Sherin Naiken, the CEO of the Tourism Board, and to her team for a job well done.

The Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands Organization achieved the visibility it was after. Pascal Viroleau, the CEO of the Vanilla Islands, ensured that a Vanilla Islands banner was paraded in the carnival parade. “The event is one that appears on the Calendar of Events of the Vanilla Islands alongside the Madagascar Tourism Trade Fair of May, the Culinary and Cultural Festival of Comoros of August, and the Festival Liberte Metisse of La Reunion of December. These are our region`s cultural events and the islands` organization of Vanilla Islands works to continue to increase the visibility of all these events," Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture and President of the Vanilla Islands, said.
