“Great Indian Royale Express” - a product of the tour operator “The Luxury Trains” - combines the highlights of the Indian luxury trains “Palace on Wheels" and “Deccan Odyssey”.
The Eight Days Journey starts from the economical and financial hub Mumbai. From the legendary Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (former Victoria Station&largest railway station in the world) the “Great Indian Royale Express” continues on track towards the Ajanta&Ellora Caves. These UNESCO – World Heritage Sites witness some of the finest paintings and sculptures of the second century AD. Whoever always wanted to meet tigers, leopards and other wild animals in their natural habitat will find them in Bandhavgarh National Park, one of the best wildlife viewing sites in India. Passing through Fatehpur Sikri, the “Dead City”, the journey continues to Agra, the capital of the former Mogul empire.
Here two world-famous attractions await the travelers: the Red Fort with Shah Palace and the Taj Mahal (Seventh wonder of the world). The white marble mausoleum impresses with its extravagant architecture and is the most universal proof of eternal love&finally discovering the desert cities of Rajasthan including “Pink City” Jaipur and the “Venice of the East” Udaipur. Arrived in Mumbai the royal journey is over, but the memory of which, will live on forever.
The “Great Indian Royale Express” operates with the “Deccan Odyssey". The blue luxury train under the guidance of Maharashtra Tourism has 21 cars, including 11 Passenger Cars with 4 coupes each, two Presidential Suite Cars and two Dining Cars offering a wonderful variety of Indian and International Cuisine tended by staff from the world-renowned Taj Hotel Group and a bar coach for cozy hours. A particularly attractive feature of the “Great Indian Royale Express” is its Spa Car: here passengers can relax and enjoy a traditional Ayurvedic massage, work out in the gym, visit the onboard hairdressing salon or enjoy the heat of the sauna even while the train is underway. The luxury train “Deccan Odyssey” will be on a weeklong journey from 9th to 16th April 2008 providing escorted English, German&French speaking guides. Further journeys are planned for September 2008 and April 2009. The tour cost for the eight days trip starts from USD 4685.00 / GBP 2357.00 per person on twin sharing basis incl. full board, excursions, entrance fees and tips (without air fare).
